LONDON TIP / ALBION SHOREDITCH
Since I will be off to London tomorrow I am not gonna make a meal plan this week. Matt will be home alone so he will probably just eat whatever leftovers we have got and a steak like he always does when I am not home.
So I thought I would give you a recommendation of one of my favourite places in London. Since I have lived there and maybe will live there again, I have a few places that I have been going back to several times. One of the places being Albion, simply because I worked there but also because I fell in love with this place from the very first time I saw it!
This is the original Albion and it is a part of the Boundary Hotel at the corner of Redchurch Street and Boundary Street in Shoreditch. Now the big bosses have opened 3 other cafes around London, but this is still my favourite since it is super authentic and cute!
Albion Shoreditch is both a cafe, small shop, an in-house bakery, cake counter and restaurant. The majority of the products, produce and food they sell are British, which make this place unique and special.
They support small industries and sell everything from drinks to cheese, sandwiches from the kitchen, pastries and bread, juice from independent suppliers, Albion’s own crafted drinks and organic vegetables.
When I worked there I was a shop girl, and was selling the baked goods, coffee to go and products in the tiny shop! The local community takes a big part in making this place special, with regular costumers both famous and local!
Florence Welsh from Florence and The Machine always popped by when she was home in London, she would always pay with loads of coppers as well as Elena from Daughter. Those were my regular famous customers but also the guy who every morning had a boxing class down the street and came at 8.10am to go “Morning my love, the usual. You know the 2 white americano’s”, But they would be ready for him already because I would ask the baristas to make them first thing when we opened.
I hope this will make you visit this beauty of a spot right in central Shoreditch, go visit their website here and check out their online menu cards!
